Join a Book Club

Joining or launching a book club can be beneficial in a number of ways. If you are in a rut and need a new challenge, then reading new books (that you might not necessarily have picked for yourself) will open your eyes to an entirely new literary world. Or if you are in a social life rut, then becoming a member of a book club will give you an opportunity to meet some new friends. Book clubs are just right for people who have recently relocated to a new area and want to meet new people, and they are perfect for people who want to expand their social group.

I’d like to share my own experience with you. I have some very interesting friends and I gain numerous things from every one of them. But I didn’t feel that any of them shared my love of reading. This motivated me to reach out and seek to join a local book club. A quick internet search directed me to a club near my home that seemed to be just what I was looking for. I provided the requested information, and the wonderful lady in charge of organising the book club sent me the specifics regarding the first meeting. It was held in an attractive and relaxed atmosphere at a combination book shop/cafe where book club meetings were held each Wednesday night. We munched appetizers from a gourmet cheese platter and drank mugs of herbal tea while we introduced ourselves and discussed our favourite book titles and authors. Our particular book club was intended for busy people who did not necessarily have time to read a book once a month or fortnight like other clubs require. We read the books we wanted and had time for, then we met and discussed it. We also exchanged books with other club members if we were interested in a particular book. It worked for us and we quickly formed strong friendships. Our book club members were a wonderful mixture of both males and females, all ages, and were English, Australian, and Indian. Our book club meetings eventually led to barbecue and picnic get togethers and we all became close friends.

It is not hard to find a local book club and there are many different varieties to suit your individual tastes and interests. The first meeting can be a bit difficult , but the anxiety of meeting new people swiftly subsides and you get to network with fellow book enthusiasts. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is a positive way to challenge yourself. If you want to change your life, you must take proactive steps. This can be as simple as committing to attend a book club meeting once a fortnight to discuss your book passion with fellow reading enthusiasts. It can be a noteworthy stepping stone toward positive changes in your life. Opening your world up to strangers, people you might otherwise never get to know, is a rewarding experience. It causes you to wonder how many potential friends are out there in the world waiting for you to find them.

We have all been in a rut, locked in a pattern of circumstances that we can’t seem to get out of. Sometimes, those circumstances change by themselves, but more often we need to take action to ensure that we don’t become stuck in a rut. We aim to help you get out of a rut knowing they can affect any facet of life.
